A game designer’s mind. A human-centred approach.

I’ve always been interested in what makes people engage.
Games design taught me to think about the person on the other side of the screen: what they notice, what they try, where they get stuck and what makes them continue.
Teaching made that thinking more practical. A good experience also needs to help someone understand, practise and apply something useful. That led me into digital learning, gamification research and, increasingly, the organisational work of technology adoption.
Today, at Keighley College, I coordinate digital innovation activity, build and test ideas, coach colleagues and explain emerging technology to senior stakeholders. My work centres on helping people use technology with confidence.
LIDA LEADING is my personal portfolio and innovation space: a place to connect that work with the possibilities of corporate L&D, enterprise learning, public services and digital transformation.
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”A saying often attributed to George Bernard Shaw; the attribution is disputed.
Useful before novel
Begin with a real need. Choose technology for the value it adds.
Play with a purpose
Engagement should support understanding, practice and meaningful feedback.
People make the change
Confidence, accessibility and follow-up matter as much as the tool.
